India vs Bangladesh 1st Test Day 1 LIVE

India ended Day 1 of the 1st Test against Bangladesh in a commanding position at 339/6 after an early collapse. Bangladesh, electing to bowl, dominated the first session, reducing India to 144/6 with Hasan Mahmud taking 4 wickets, including key dismissals of Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli. However, an incredible fightback came from Ravichandran Ashwin (102)* and *Ravindra Jadeja (86)**, whose unbeaten 195-run partnership stabilized India’s innings.

Session 1: Bangladesh Dominates Early

On Day 1 of the first Test between India and Bangladesh, Bangladesh’s bowlers dominated the morning session. Opting to bowl after winning the toss, the Bangladeshi seamers made full use of overcast conditions and a lively Chennai pitch. Hasan Mahmud was the star, removing India’s top order quickly. Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli all fell inside the first hour, leaving India at 35/3. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant steadied the ship with a 50-run partnership, but Pant’s wicket before lunch left India vulnerable at 88/3.

Session 2: India’s Middle-Order Struggles

After lunch, India’s recovery was short-lived as Bangladesh struck again. Yashasvi Jaiswal fought hard to reach his half-century but was dismissed soon after by Nahid Rana. KL Rahul followed in the next over, leaving India reeling at 144/6. Bangladesh’s bowlers, led by Mahmud’s brilliance, kept the pressure on with disciplined line and length. However, the introduction of spin saw Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin consolidate the innings with cautious yet effective play. The duo began to build a partnership that saw India cross 200 by tea.

Ashwin and Jadeja

Session 3: Ashwin and Jadeja Lead Remarkable Recovery

The final session belonged entirely to India, as Ashwin and Jadeja led a remarkable counterattack. Both batters handled Bangladesh’s spinners and seamers with great skill. Ashwin reached his century in just 112 balls, while Jadeja played a supporting role with a well-constructed 86*. Their unbeaten partnership of 195 runs took India from a precarious position to a strong total of 339/6 by stumps. Bangladesh’s bowlers lost their early rhythm, allowing the experienced Indian duo to take control.

Despite a brilliant start by Bangladesh, reducing India to 144/6, Ashwin and Jadeja’s partnership turned the tide in India’s favor. Ashwin’s century and Jadeja’s composed innings have given India the upper hand heading into Day 2.
