Dates Announced for 2025 World Test Championship Final

The ICC has officially announced that the 2025 World Test Championship (WTC) final will be hosted at Lord’s from June 11 to June 15, with June 16 designated as a reserve day.

This marks Lord’s debut as the venue for the WTC final, following the previous editions at Southampton in 2021 and The Oval in 2023, where New Zealand and Australia were crowned champions, respectively. The final will be contested by the top two teams in the current WTC cycle, with India currently leading the standings, followed closely by reigning champions Australia.

Lord’s, often referred to as the “Home of Cricket,” will be an iconic setting for this one-off Test match. The WTC, which aims to add context and significance to the traditional Test format, has grown in importance since its inception, with the top two teams qualifying after a rigorous two-year cycle of matches. India’s strong position and Australia’s championship pedigree are likely to intensify the competition leading up to the final.

There are still many points up for grabs in the World Test Championship, with teams like New Zealand (3rd), England (4th), Sri Lanka (5th), South Africa (6th), and Bangladesh (7th) still competing for a spot in the 2025 final. Fans can register their interest for tickets soon, and ICC CEO Geoff Allardice expects high demand. He emphasized that the WTC Final has quickly become one of the most anticipated events in cricket, and encouraged fans to secure their chance to attend the “Ultimate Test.”
