Over 4 Lakh People Impacted by A.P. Floods | Navy Launches Rescue Operations

Torrential rains have unleashed devastating floods across Andhra Pradesh, affecting over 4.15 lakh people in multiple districts. The incessant downpour, which began earlier this week, has led to severe flooding, displacing thousands and causing extensive damage to homes, infrastructure, and farmlands. The districts of East Godavari, West Godavari, and Krishna are among the worst hit, with rivers overflowing and inundating vast areas. Low-lying regions have been submerged, and several roads and bridges have been washed away, hampering rescue and relief efforts. Authorities have issued warnings for potential landslides in hilly areas, urging residents to remain vigilant and relocate to safer zones.

Rescue and Relief Efforts: The Indian Navy has stepped in to assist the state government in rescue operations. Naval teams, equipped with boats and other essential rescue equipment, are tirelessly working to evacuate stranded residents from submerged areas. Helicopters have been deployed to airlift those trapped in remote locations. While relief camps have been set up to provide temporary shelter, food, and medical aid to the displaced population.

The state government has declared a red alert in the affected districts like Krishna and Godavari. AP Governemt is also coordinating with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Army, and Navy for ongoing rescue operations. Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy conducted an aerial survey of the affected regions and places with floods. He assured citizens that all necessary measures will be taken to mitigate the disaster’s impact. He has also announced a relief package for those affected, including compensation for the families of those who have lost their lives.

As of today, the situation remains dire, with heavy rains continuing to lash the state. Water levels in major rivers, including the Godavari and Krishna, are rising dangerously. Due to prompting the release of water from dams to prevent breaches. This has further exacerbated the flooding in downstream areas.
